Edgar Bruce was an English actor, director, and theater manager. In 1875 he starred as Thomas Brown in the premiere of "The Zoo," by Arthur Sullivan and Bolton Rowe, at London's St. James Theatre. Bruce later revived the play at the Haymarket and the Royalty. In 1884 the actor built the Prince of Wales' Theatre in London, as its proprietor and manager. The magnificent house was completely lighted by electricity. Bruce produced "The Palace of Truth" for its 1884 opening.
