Jahleel Brenton Carey (1847-1883) Jahleel Carey was captain of the 98th Regiment of Foot. During the Zulu War of 1879, Carey was given leave to accompanied a party under the command of the Prince Imperial of France, Louis Napoleon. This party was ambushed by Zulus and the Prince Imperial was killed. Carey was court-martialed but exonerated.
