Princess Kaiulani of Hawaii (1875-1899)

Princess Kaiulani of Hawaii was the daughter of Archibald Cleghorn, a Scotsman, and Princess Miriam Kapili Likkelike, sister of the reigning monarch of Hawaii. Princess Kaiulani was groomed to be the Queen of Hawaii, but in January 1893 the Hawaiian monarchy was overthrown by Americans. Hawaii was annexed to the United States on August 12, 1898, and the princess died seven months later.
