Calvin Kingsley (1812-1870)

Calvin Kingsley was a bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He entered Allegheny College in 1836. He was ordained in 1843 and became known as a skillful debater. He was elected editor of the "Western Christian Advocate," which he made into a strongly antislavery paper. He was elected bishop in 1864 and traveled around the world. He died in Beirut.
