George Dennison Prentice (1802-1870)

Prentice was an American newspaper editor and journalist. His paper, the Louisville Daily Journal, became the most influential Whig paper in the South and the West. His editorials were honest and intelligent and even though he was induced to support the South during the Civil War, he held his strong Unionist stance, although he was not an abolitionist.
