Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885)
Helen Hunt Jackson was a writer and an advocate for Native Americans. She began her career as a poet. Emily Dickinson and Hunt began a lifelong correspondence during which Hunt, sensing her friend's great talent, encouraged Dickinson to publish her poetry.
