Ellen W. Wade, Mrs. Schuyler Colfax

Ellen W. Wade married Vice-President Schuyler Colfax in 1868. She was a niece of Senator Benjamin F. Wade of Ohio. It was her husband's second marriage. They had one child. Schuyler Colfax was elected Speaker of the House during Lincoln's administration and later elected vice president on Ulysses S. Grant's ticket in 1868.
