George Armstrong Custer (1839-1876)

Custer was the youngest general in the Union army, promoted to Major General in 1865. During the war, eleven horses were killed under him, but he was only wounded once. He is probably best remembered for Little Big Horn, where he and his troops were killed by the Sioux in 1876. Custer graduated last in the West Point class of 1861.
