Benjamin Helm Bristow (1832-1896)
Bristow was a Union soldier during the Civil War and an accomplished Republican lawyer and politician. He helped to raise the 25th Kentucky Volunteer Regiment and the 8th Kentucky Calvary. Ulysses S. Grant appointed him as the first solicitor general of the United States. He also served Grant as the secretary of the treasury and later in his life he was a corporate lawyer.
