John Brougham (1810-1880)
Born in Ireland, John Brougham was a popular actor, playwright, and theater manager in the U.S. His most successful plays were the burlesque "Po-ca-hon-tas; or, The Gentle Savage," " Columbus et Filibustero," and his dramatizations of Dickenss "David Copperfield" and "Dombey and Son." Brougham ran New York's Fifth Avenue Theatre.
