Confederate major, 8th Tennessee Infantry, Co E & H. Carter was captured Dec, 1, 1863 in Monroe Co, KY, and sent to Rock Island, IL, on Dec 6, 1863, arriving on Dec 9. Carter was released on March 11, 1865.
