Idealized View of Slavery in America
In this lithograph by Edward Williams Clay, a benevolent white slave-owning family is depicted with their grateful slaves. It is the left panel from a larger print entitled "Black and White Slavery" which compared Britain's "abused white slaves" (factory workers) with America's supposedly contented black slaves.
