Lincoln's Boots

Abraham Lincoln was wearing these boots on the night he was shot. They were left behind in William Clark's room (where Lincoln died) in the Peterson boarding house. This modern photograph was taken in that room. In 1875, Clark gave the boots to Justin Hatch whose family gave them to the government in 1947. They are black leather with maroon goatskin tops.
