Prayer March
Approximately thirty African-Americans halted during a protest march to city hall in Birmingham to kneel on the sidewalk and pray before they were arrested for parading without a permit. The leader of the "prayer march" protesting racial segregation was Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth.
