This is a lithograph of New York after a drawing by W. Heine that depicts a scene from Commodore Mathew Perry's visit to the Ryukyu Islands of Japan. In this lithograph, his party pauses at the Shurei-mon (Gate of Courtesy), the second gate of Shuri Castle, amid much military pomp and pageantry.
