"Crossing the Delaware"
General George Washington and the Continental Army crossed the icy Delaware River by boat on the snowy night of December 25, 1776. They were in the midst of their sneak attack on the British in Trenton. This engraved illustration appeared in the February 1856 issue of Harper's.
