"Treachery of Pontiac Discovered"
In 1763, Ottawa Chief Pontiac supposedly planned an uprising and attack on the British fort at Detroit just after the end of the French and Indian War. His plan was to ask for a council with the commandant Major Goldwin in the fort. Once in the fort, the Native Americans were to open a surprise attack. However, Major Goldwin had advance warning of the plot and foiled the attack. This colored engraving was an illustration from an unknown nineteenth century book.
