George M. Dallas, Polk's Vice President (1792-1864)

George Mifflin Dallas was the vice president under James Polk. He was also mayor of Philadelphia (1828-29), U.S. senator from Pennsylvania (1831-33), attorney general of Pennsylvania (1833-35), U.S. minister to Russia (1837-39), and U.S. minister to Great Britain (1856-61).
