James Knox Polk (1795-1849)

In his diary, on February 14, 1849, President James Polk recorded that he had "yielded to the request of an artist named Brady, of N.Y., by sitting for my Degueryotype (sic) likeness today." This was during Polk's last month in his presidential term.
