President Taft at the Opening of the Gunnison Tunnel
President Taft is touching the golden bell which opened the flood through the Gunnison Tunnel, Montrose, Colorado, September 23, 1909. It took four years for the tunnel to be cut through the mountains in order to irrigate the Uncompahgre Valley for farming.
