Albert Pike (1809-1891)
This is a photograph of the poet and newspaper publisher, Albert Pike. Although Pike was raised in Massachusetts, he was a brigadier general in the Confederate army, in charge of three Native American regiments in his adopted state of Arkansas. A prominent freemason, Pike's writings on the movement include Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
