General John Cabell Breckinridge, C.S.A. (1821-1875)
John C. Breckinridge served as a U.S. representative from Kentucky from 1855 until 1859. He was James Buchanan's vice president and ran for president himself in 1860. At age 35, he was the youngest vice president in U.S. history. In the Civil War he became a major general in the Confederate Army and in 1865 he was named Jefferson Davis's secretary of war.
