Benjamin French (1800-1870)
Benjamin Brown French moved from New Hampshire to Washington, DC, where he served as Clerk of the House, and Commissioner of Public Buildings. French kept an eleven volume journal of the political dealings in the capital, which provided a detailed account of the Lincoln White House.
