D-Day
American troops run to the beaches to avoid Nazi gunfire on D-Day. Also known as Operation Overlord, D-Day was an invasion of the Nazi-controlled coast of Normandy by more than 60,000 Allied troops. 5,000 men died in the effort to take Omaha Beach, which was finally secured by the end of the day.
