Brigadier General Alfred Moore Scales (1827-1892)

Alfred Moore Scales was a lawyer and four term member of the state legislature in North Carolina. He was elected in 1856 to the U.S. House of Representatives. Scales volunteered as a private in the Confederate Army and served throughout the Civil War, attaining the rank of brigadier general. After the Civil War, he was elected governor of North Carolina.
