Brigadier General William Wing Loring (1818-1886)

William Wing Loring was a lawyer and a minor politician from North Carolina. He fought in the Seminole War, the Mexican War, and in the Civil War as a Confederate. He lost his left arm at the storming of Chapultepec during the Mexican War. Loring also served in Egypt after the Civil War in the service of the Khedive as a Lewan Pasha (brigadier general). This original print has heavy retouching.
