Brigadier General William Preston, C.S.A. (1816-1887)
A Harvard educated lawyer, Preston fought in the Mexican War as a lieutenant colonel. He was elected to the state legislature and senate of Kentucky and in 1852 took a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In this portrait, his uniform is painted on.
