Here Japanese-Americans arrive at Tanforan relocation camp in San Bruno, California in 1942. A total of ten camps were established during World War II to hold more than 110,000 Japanese-Americans. Officially described as "relocation centers" they were in truth concentration camps, where many inmates remained imprisoned until 1945.
