Clara Barton (1821-1912)

Clara Barton was known as the "Angel of the Battlefield." She was a humanitarian and organizer of the American Red Cross. She nursed soldiers during the Civil War and organized a supply service for them. President Lincoln appointed her in 1865 to search for missing prisoners and her records helped to identify the many dead at the Andersonville Prison.
