Charles Henry Bell (1823-1893)

Charles H. Bell was a lawyer and politician who is primarily remembered as a student and writer of New Hampshire history. In 1879 he was appointed to fill a vacancy in the United States Senate. The legality of his appointment was contested in the Senate, but he was finally seated.
