Major General Alexander Sandor Asboth (1811-1868)
Asboth was a Union officer born in Keszthely, Hungary. In 1864 he was severely wounded in Florida and his left arm and cheekbone were shattered. In 1866 President Andrew Johnson appointed Asboth minister resident to the Argentine Republic. He died in Buenos Aires unable to ever fully recover from his painful war wound.
