John James Audubon (1785-1851)
Audubon, an ornithologist, naturalist and artist. One of the first to study and draw the birds and animals of America, his paintings became the basis for his book, "The Birds of America." Mathew Brady copied this early daguerreotype of Audubon by unknown photographer.
