Alice Kingsbury Beside a Mirror

Actress, artist, and writer Alice Kingsbury, "the Elfin Star," made her 1859 debut in Cincinnati as Bianca. In 1866 she starred with great success as Fanchon in San Francisco. Shortly thereafter Kingsbury gave up the stage for sculpting. She wrote and illustrated "Ho! For Elf-Land!" in 1877.
