Mr. and Mrs. Tony Pastor
Antonio Pastor (1835-1908) was an important theater manager in the nineteenth century. After working in the circus business as an acrobat Pastor became successful as a comic vocalist. In 1861 he opened his first theater on Broadway and later opened two more. Pastor introduced many future stars, including Lillian Russell, and offered vaudeville that was appropriate for a mixed-gender audience.
