Moore House in Yorktown
During the 1862 Peninsula Campaign, the fighting severely damaged the Moore House. Located between Confederate lines in Yorktown and the Union forces on Wormley Creek, the house withstood heavy shell fire. Sharpshooters filled its orchard. Moore House had also played an important part in the Revolutionary War, when the terms of capitulation were drafted there in 1781.
