"Daniel Boone" (1734-1820)

Daniel Boone was an American pioneer and frontiersman who settled in Kentucky. His exploits in the wilderness and during the American Revolution led to his becoming a folk hero. This 1861 engraving was based on a painting by Alonzo Chappel and published by Johnson, Fry & Co.
