General Catharinus Putnam Buckingham (1808-1888)

Catharinus Putnam Buckingham graduated 6th in the West Point class of 1829. After topographical duty and teaching at West Point, he resigned in 1831 to become professor of mathematics and natural philosophy at Kenyon College. He was a Brigadier General, U.S. Volunteers during the Civil War who served on special duty in the War department.
