John Wilkes Booth (1838-1865)
John Wilkes Booth was the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln. Booth was a successful actor who was highly acclaimed for his Shakespearean roles. He committed the first Presidential assassination in American history when he shot Lincoln on April 14th, 1865. After the assassination, Mathew Brady copied this photo taken by another unknown photographer and made it available to the public.
