John Lawrence Burns, Citizen Hero at Gettysburg

A veteran of the war of 1812, and a cobbler and former constable from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he took up a rifle and fought in the battle of Gettysburg. He became known as the "Hero of Gettysburg" and met Lincoln.
