Union Engineers on the Rappahannock Bridge

Union Army engineers repair the bridge over the North Fork of the Rappahannock River during Pope's campaign in August, 1862. This team works near Sulphur Springs. Their effort was in vain, as Stonewall Jackson routed Pope that same month.
