Thomas (Tad) Lincoln
Thomas Lincoln was born on April 4, 1853, the fourth son of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln. He was named after his paternal grandfather, but was nicknamed "Tadpole" or Tad for short. The boy was often by his father's side while Lincoln attended to presidential matters. Tad died at age eighteen on July 15, 1871, presumably from tuberculosis. This head shot is a detail from a larger photograph.
