A. Mitchell Palmer with his Wife

Palmer, an American politician, is shown here with his wife. He helped swing the Democratic convention to nominate Woodrow Wilson for President in 1912 and served as attorney general from 1919-21, initiating the notorious “Palmer Raids,” in which some 3,000 allegedly subversive aliens were rounded up for deportation.
