A. Mitchell Palmer (1872-1936)

Alexander Mitchell Palmer was an American politician who served as a U.S. congressman from Pennsylvania and helped swing the Democratic convention to nominate Woodrow Wilson for President in 1912. He later served as attorney general from 1919-21, initiating the notorious “Palmer Raids,” in which some 3,000 allegedly subversive aliens were rounded up for deportation.
