Lucy Burns (1879-1966)
Lucy Burns was a suffragist who fought to secure a constitutional amendment securing women's right to vote. She helped organize political campaigns, edited The Suffragist, and spent time in jail for infractions ranging from covering Washington sidewalks with chalked suffragist messages to organizing a demonstration against President Wilson during World War I.
