The Boston Tea Party
In this lithograph by Nathaniel Currier people cheer as radical patriots disguised as Indians dump chests of tea into Boston Harbor in response to the passage of a Tea Act. These actions led to the passage of Coercive Acts designed to punish the rebellious Massachusetts patriots which resulted in a strong wave of anti-British and nationalist sentiment that helped lead the colonies and Great Britain closer to war.
