George Martin Lane (1823-1897)
Lane was a Latin professor at Harvard University for forty-three years. It is said that his Latin Pronunciation (1871) "worked a revolution in exterminating the English pronunciation of Latin in this country." His "Latin Grammar for Schools and Colleges," published posthumously has been referred to as a "monument of literary art and sympathetic interpretation."
