David Kellogg Cartter (1812-1887)

Cartter was a lawyer and politician from Ohio. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives (1849-1853) and as the U.S. minister to Brazil (1861-1862). President Lincoln appointed him to the United States Supreme Court in 1863 and he served until his death in 1887.
