Edward McPherson (1830-1895)

He was a journalist and politician from Pennsylvania who was active in Republican party politics. In 1875 he wrote the Pennsylvania Republican platform, which called for tariff protection, specie resumption, and civil rights for African Americans and which opposed a third term for President Ulysses S. Grant.
