James Payn (1830-1898)

Payn was an English novelist who upon graduation from Oxford, wrote for various magazines eventually becoming the editor of Chambers Journal. He was a friend and great admirer of Dickens who wrote a great number of novels, establishing himself as one of the popular writers of the day.
