Sir John Tenniel (1820-1914)
Sir John Tenniel was an English cartoonist and illustrator. Tenniel was on the staff of Punch for 50 years. His most celebrated cartoon was 'Dropping the Pilot' in 1890, referring to Bismarck's dismissal. However, his main claim to fame are his delicate illustrations for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.
